A mother from Manchester as told how she fought off a bull mastiff dog with her bare hands after it threatened to attack her two children and killed her own dog.
Karen Greaves, speaking about the dog attack, told how the dog appeared ‘out of nowhere’ and ‘with no warning’ whilst she was enjoying a picnic with her five year old son and four month old baby daughter.
The dog – a bull mastiff – is alleged to have immediately attack the family pet and then to have turned on the family, knocking over the baby’s buggy. Mrs Greaves then lay on the back of the dog and her hands in its mouth in a bid to protect her children. She has since had surgery to repair her badly bitten hands.
The dog has since been destroyed and the family are understood to be seeking personal injury compensation in response.
